Portrait #1 detail by Paul Wyse
Portrait #2 detail by Gwendolyn Healey
Portrait #3 detail by Stev’nn Hall
He’s the singer-songwriter of Blue Rodeo, one of the most successful and endearing bands in Canada, and he’s the cute one, with a bitter-sweet romantic voice. A sweet sadness permeates all his songs, starting with the huge hit that began the band’s career back in the 80s, called “Try”. Jim Cuddy invites us into the band’s hideaway music studio, called “The Woodshed”, in Riverdale, Toronto, for a portrait sitting with three widely different and equally unsuspecting artists, Old masters painter Paul Wyse, pop surrealist Gwendolyn Healey, and multi-media talent Stev’nn Hall. When it comes to melancholy lyrics, Jim’s the best, but is that the mood he’s looking for in a portrait?
Jim Cuddy is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and member of the band Blue Rodeo, one of the premiere bands in Canadian music history. Over the course of 25 years, Blue Rodeo has garnered 12 Juno Awards, released 12 studio albums, 1 live album, a Greatest Hits collection, and 2 award winning DVDs, selling in excess of 4 million copies around the world. In addition to his work with Blue Rodeo, Jim has released two solo albums, All in Time and Juno Award winning The Light That Guides You Home.
